Clashes between riot police and protestors during the Athens Polytechnic Uprising march on November 17, 2016. On November 14, 1973, what began as a demonstration against the Greek military junta (1967-1974) ended in bloodshed when a tank went crashing through the gates of the Polytechnic. Every year on this day, Greeks take to the street to commemorate the lives lost during the uprising in 1973. Every year, the march ends with riot police and protestors facing off against one another.
