In March 2016, during my fourth reporting trip to Greece, I made a short side trip to Jordan, where I reported from the refugee camps and informal settlements for a week. Za'atari Refugee Camp, on the outskirts of Amman, Jordan, is now home to nearly 80,000 Syrian refugees, a fraction of the over 600,000 refugees that currently live and work in Jordan. The camp was established in 2012, and has since grown at a rapid rate, with over 3,000 businesses now operating within an area of only 5.2km, and with an average total turnover of over $7 million per month. Here is my latest for CNN Money and CNN International.
